dear emily,
i used to think the best preparation to being a good mother was
a math/science degree or even an elementary education one. a
nursing degree would have helped tremendously, too!
but now, after watching the mom scene from 'ocean's twelve', i've
changed my mind.
imagine if before having those little urchins, you had been a CIA
agent or a county sheriff? before asking, "who took a bite out of
your dad's birthday cake?", you would already know the culprit!
you could read all their 'tells' and know how to call the bluffs.
say one of the rugrats decides he doesn't want to pick up his toys
or go to bed, you could say in your robert deniro voice, "how
would you like me to haul your skinny little self down to the
county jail?"
think how easy it would be to get their finger prints? they are all
over the place.
love,
lea

One of the reasons I decided to become an RN was that I thought that training would be a good preperation for motherhood ;)
Hi Lea! Catching up on some of your sweet posts. What a summer... seems like one thing ran into another and I barely had time to post. September will be the same with some kitchen work being done on our home. Although our children are grown and gone, they left much behind, including some fingerprints here and there and there and there!!!
The stuff that memories are made ♥
Have a wonderful new week*

Oh Lea, this was so cute! I need a chuckle this evening, thank you.
great post ... like the finger print part ..;0 hope all is well on your end my friend... xo Blessings, HHL
So cute. It seems like with Mom radar we can do all of that plus have eyes in the back of our heads too.
Not to mention the ability to read between the lines. I love watching my young mommies as they mother their children start being able to do all of those things. Though I would love to hear them do it like a cop. :) Have great week.
pat: bless you and your precious city,
new yorK!
So cute and so true my friend...hope your September is going well so far. xoxoxo
Funny how I have "practiced" all of these professions - sometimes in just one single day of mothering!
Motherhood, in fact, IS a quite legitimate "profession" afterall.
How wisely you write! With just the right mixture of humor, wit, and truth...
I think mother's were created wih a set of built in radar that we never knew we had, until we had kids! :)
xo
So true and then the baby of the family gets all that knowledge you have acquired from the older ones and they wonder how you knew....we do develop more skills than we could have ever imagined...and none would have been learned in the class room
Thank you for the laugh! Oh' the many fields we could have gone into to help us in the mothering department. Live and learn...that's been my schooling. ;-)
Thanks for the giggles. Your wit
and wisdom are wonderful, Lea.
I enjoyed this so! Soo true. Hope you have a good week! HUGS
I guess that is why they say moms are the holders of many degrees ... from chauffeur to nurse and laundress to referee, Mom do it all! =) Although I do believe CIA training would definitely be valuable when trying to figure out which teenage daughter stole my black heels last Sunday!

Lea how fun!! So true though, we really never thought of professions that would help us with rising our children!!
