some day

i'm linking up with the red dress club to write a letter to our younger
selves.

dear younger lea,

i know you think you're fat, because there is a tiny jiggle behind
you, but you're NOT.  some day you WILL be, so try to enjoy
that cute little figure while you have it.

it makes you feel prettier to be as tan as a piece of leather, but
some day that's what your skin will look like . . . only worse.
put on sunscreen.

be kind to everyone.  some day you may work for one of them.

think sweet thoughts, and you will say sweet words.  some day
you may have to eat them.

love,
your much older self

"whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever
is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable . . . think on
such things."  philippians 4:8

Oh the things I would tell my younger self! I wish I could go back and change so many things. I guess that's what helps me to be a bit wiser today!

Hi Lea! Great post, and I love the Bible verse you included. I have always and forever worked hard to think my best thoughts, and I wish it was not the struggle it still sometimes is... But I like to think improvement is there, and I'm encouraged with myself, as I do, at least, catch myself in negative thoughts. I give my own face a little slap, and try to refocus!! (0; I grew up surrounded and nearly buried to death in them, and I KNOW that's not how/what I want to be! I love coming to Blogland to visit with friends like you who definitely help to keep my spirits UP!... Have a wonderful weekend! ~tina

Dear Younger self,
Please listen to the sage advice of those who are older than you and love you. They really do know what they are talking about. It's wise advice, and will save you much heartache.

Love,
The Older and not so far off as you imagine Self

Wonderful post, Lea. Your words ring very true to me and I hope that my daughters will learn my example so that I can learn from theirs.

Grin ... the problem is that even if you had been able to give yourself those words you would not have heeded them. I was skinny, knew I was skinny but never for the life of me believed I would ever be well padded like my mum and aunties but I am! I especially like the thought about words ... and love the scripture too.

I SO wish I could go back and live young again with the knowledge and experience I have now. The grass is always greener...

An interesting exercise. Sometimes I think I would tell my younger self to change things. However, those very things, negative, painful and sore are the things that shaped the person I am today.

I look back at old pictures and remember how I felt fat at the time, and now I'm all "I was SO skinny then!"

Oh Lea you make me laugh!! Yes eating fried chicken is okay. In fact,
I fix fried chicken too. As my boys love fried chicken.
I wouldn't eat my hens, but I have threatened the old hens who only lay eggs when they want that if they don't get with the plan they might be soup someday.
Only I don't think I would. :)
Write a post about fried chicken!!

You're so correct - oh the baby oil and the silver "beach towels" - oy! I regret that everytime I fork over good money for some miracle in a jar.
