washington d.c.

dear emily,

hans and i just returned from a dreamy trip that started in our nation's
capital.   here's the view from our window the first morning.

if you're wondering what's behind the trees . . .

while my poor husband was working from dawn 'til dusk, i was walking
the streets.   not that way.   i got the giggles once i noticed the funny
state of our nation's shoes.    mine were the worst.

but these are NOT mine!

this gentleman met me each day at the park, but i didn't have the nerve
to talk to him.   i wondered where he would go as the weather cooled.

in a few days i will share some photos of our next stop:  florence, italy.

love,
lea

Lovely lodging, Lea...no, I did NOT plan that alliteration! -smile-
Along with you, I wonder what will become of him when cold winter arrives. I wonder if he's a veteran?

Oh, to have the freedom that man has just to be who is. But then, as the old song says, "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose". I do hope he has a warm place for the winter.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hmmmm...looks as if he is making a statement. I join you in wishing him well and a change for the better.

When you comment about this trip or that I always find myself wondering if you're really home now. I hope so. I hope that all these wonderful journeys are over for just now when I'd rather think of your being at home. I'm a nut. Certifiable.

Hi Lea...this post made me giggle. My momma always said that no matter how well you are dressed if you shoes are crummy the entire outfit is ruined! :)

Tis true for me to this day!

Have fun...people need to hear....

Love, Rebecca

I was giggling about shoes myself this morning. We were on the train going to church in they city and a whole pack of young people disembarked from the train ... each of the girls was tottering on those hugely high platform shoes and enormously tall heels added. The poor young men with them were towered over.

It's been many many years since I've been to Washington. Such good memories. The cherry trees were in blossom making it a romantic sight. Unfortunately, we had twelve high school seniors with us. Ha...we enjoyed every minute. I'd love to know the homeless man's background. We have so many blessings and rarely do I take time to thank God for my bed.

I imagine the man will walk on south to Florida. He has quite a tan. Though he's probably schizophrenic.
Beautiful shots of D.C. xo Jenny

Lea... it's been far too long that I have taken in one of your inspiring posts ... and this was a prefect time to stop by.

Sounds like you have been on a major trip, can't wait to catch up on reading.

Your post today is a reminder of the 2 extremes that exist in our society (worldwide) ~ wonder what his story is. A politician? a doctor? a business man? no matter he is someone's son, and I do hope that man has a warm place to go and

I hope that guy has found a flannel shirt (at least) to wear by now.

It might be getting chilly there.
