dear emily,
the Christmas cantata was the best ever! we had three packed services
and hardly a wobbly moment in any song. a few times people were
dancing in the aisles which has to be a first. hans had recorded the
passages from luke one and two, and his voice had such resonance that
it sounded like the great and terrible oz of Christmas.
there were so many wonderful moments in the concert, but my favorites
were looking out at the sanctuary filled with families dressed in holiday
red and green. children stood at the balcony rail on tiptoes bouncing to
the trombones, violins, and drums (a full orchestra is hidden beyond the
choir loft rail.)
some faces were shining with joy. others with tears. most of my joy
is mingled with tears these days.
merry Christmas,
lea

Thank you soooooooooooooo much for sharing...I am so blessed this morning..and I would have loved to have been one dancing! Oh what a joy...we will all dance before the throne one day with our voices lifted high.
I would have enjoyed hearing it also!
Merry Christmas!!
Delightful! Oh to have people dancing in the aisles! I know what you mean about joy mingled with tears. Beautiful sanctuary, too. It reminds me of a First Methodist church I once attended long years ago...
I love to experience true worship in church, dancing before the Lord, voices lifted in high praise. Wonderful! And He deserves no less. This is a very beautiful church and I'm with Janette, I would have enjoyed hearing also.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, Lea.
Wish I could have been there! I love the picture in my mind that your words painted. I can see those sweet children on tip toe! And I too, think I cry at least once a service during the month of December!

PS-sometimes I wish my hubby was at least a little bit scared of me, then maybe I wouldn't have a motorcycle in my basement!!!
I got chills reading your post and looking at the inside of the sanctuary. It sounds wonderful.
Yeah. Advent concerts are the greatest ever.I need to attend at least two, preferably one each Sunday.
As long as people, young and old find each other in praising, there's hope for Christianity.
Oh how wonderful that must have been! I would have loved to have seen it and heard it!
Oh I love it!I probably wouldn't have danced, but I would have thought about it. :)
I know it was wonderful.. the true music of Christmas just fills your soul, doesn't it?
A Savior. A SAVIOR. Just the thought of Him brings me peace.
A Savior. MY SAVIOR!
Love to you~

I would have loved to have been there....what a wonderful way to prepare hearts for Christmas
It's definitely the music of the season that enhances the magic. Bet your time of worship was heavenly!
Sounds like a very special evening with hearts rejoicing with praise.
Sounds like it was wonderful! Happy day to you :)
Hugs!
Christmas services like this move me to tears too, they are so precious.
It's the best of Christmas! I savor the tender beauties of pageants & song that honor our coming (and coming again) King!
I would have loved to have been there. I sometimes miss the traditional church music and stained glass windows. Merry Christmas!
Hi Lea :) Any advice on how you balanced time as wife and mom when the kids were little. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the things that need to be done...sadly putting me in a bit of a rut. This is what I don't want since this precious family is a gift and blessing. Thank you <3 Hoping your sweet ones are home with you for Christmas :)
Lea, that would have been a wonderful service to attend; how blessed you were! My good intentions to go to Christmas Eve service didn't materialize; at the last minute, I stayed home and didn't chance the 30 minute drive to town. I'm such a weenie!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing such a lovely event with us. I always enjoy my visit to your blog.
you really captured the experience with your words... so lovely.
