dear emily,
i decorated the house with all my favorite Christmas treasures, but i wasn't
happy with the result. then i remembered a famous coco chanel quote.
"after accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on."
so, i removed four calling birds, three french hens, and two turtledoves. the
partridge wouldn't budge. 'less is more' is usually the best idea with design,
make-up, jewelry, recipe ingredients, words, and most things.
. . . but not with some things.
"after accessorizing with faith, hope, and love, pour on a lot of generosity,
kindness, and compassion."
merry Christmas,

AMEN!!! More sometimes gets in the way of BEST!
smart advice to use in lots of areas of our lives!
Lovely nativity scene and wise words.
Your nativity is so beautiful. I collect them, they mean the most to me and I love putting them out each year. I think I need the less is more aproach to my ornaments!!
Leah, wise words from a Godly woman.
Many years ago, I saw a snippet of a t.v. show in which a young woman...perhaps late twenties... was being interviewed. Indeed, I believe she was being interviewed because her family name was famous. Anyway, while her driver waited, she was put on way too much make-up, way too little clothing and then came the jewelry. She had on rings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches and said, "Someone once said "less is more" but I think more is more so when I think I'm wearing enough, I add one more piece."
Which proved to me that money didn't mean one couldn't also be tacky. She was a mugging waiting to happen; I hope her driver was also a bodyguard.
When reading your blog Gal. 5:
22"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
I have to admit that at an age of 63 I have still a lot to achieve to obtain the fruits of the spirit. When I enter the Pearly Gate, it will only be because of what my Mom calls grace upon grace.
When reading your blog, Gal.5 came to my mind.
Absolutely!! Less is better. I love Felisol's comments above, love when her mom says 'grace upon grace'. That's the one thing we will never take away!
Oh dear. I may have gone too far, but you know what the remedy is for that? More! =D
vee: ha ha! ok, you win.
Beautiful nativity scene and truly a wonderful and thoughtful post. Wishing you the Most of the season and it's TRUE reason for celebration ... the gift that we were given even before birth... xo Blessings, C(HHL)
I am doing much less this year too. Even the tree is holding fewer ornaments. Prefer the lighter look lately.
I love the trail of thoughts in this post. I'm enjoying your Christmas cheer.
That is some good advice from Ms. Chanel. Too bad I don't even wear accessories.
So very, very true!
Such good advice for all aspects of life. ANd I really needed this reminder. =)
Oh Amen...couldn't agree more! Enjoy your week-end!
Mz Chanel would be very uncomfortable in my house ~ although I have taken her advice to heart concerning accessories and almost always take the feather boa off before leaving the house. (**.
Oh I like that! I'd be pretty stumped on the accessories as I wear practically no accessories at all.
But I like "pour on lots of generosity" :-)
Merry Christmas!
