a fake and a fraud

i'm not a party girl, more of a wallflower, but we have hosted three
parties in as many weeks.  i feel like roadkill.

before each event, i have great intentions to clean my house from
top to bottom and bring order to my chaos but always end up
stuffing papers, shoes, and pillows into my office.

at the last party, and i mean the very LAST party,  my friend walked
into my dump office and came back to the table with a challenge to
my sainthood.  :)

"you are a fake and a fraud."

"what?"  i thought she was referring to the fake four carat canary
diamond on my happy finger.

"i read the post about your beautifully ordered office, and what i just
saw is a mess!  you are misleading your gentle readers."

whew!  the ring is safe for another day.   the office is . . . well,
just an office.

love,
lea

Oh my gosh, that many parties in such a short amount of time??? Whose office wouldn't be a mess. You should have seen where I hid stuff after having two weddings at my house in 3 weeks. I still run across stuff I stuffed in odd places. It is your office. So what. People don't come to see if your house is clean, they come for hospitality.
We are just opening our houses up because we might be entertaining angels unawares. I don't think the angels care.
Have a good week. Wow, it is so hard to do that many parties in such a short amount of time. I bet you do feel like roadkill.

It does my heart good to know I'm not alone in my messy ways. Thank you!

What would a gal do without a place to "stash" everything in a pinch? Enjoy your clutter....

Still smiling ear to ear, sweet Lea. And soooooo happy! I want you to know: You are not the only one, absolutely not. I always 'blaim' my four little ones, a minute after I cleaned up my cupboard, my office, my anything... I looks a mess again, well that's a most of the time.
Have a happy happy weekend, funny sweet girl xxx

That is so cute. Welcome to the Stashers Club! My favorite spots in an emergency are the bedroom closet and under the bed.
Oh and I clean my car by throwing everything in the trunk (Shhh)

If it's any consolation, I also have a room where I toss everything when company is coming. I think most people do, if they are honest!

Same with the fake jewels. lol

My house hasn't been neat for ages. We moved house recently and had to do some major work. Now we're waiting on planning permission to add another 2 rooms. Meanwhile we have to store stuff every where. I can't wait to get back to normal. Your office must be tidy compared to my house.

She would never be invited back. ;>

As we were trying to drive down our street dodging cars lining both sides because our neighbors were having yet another event, John and I began discussing how they could possibly invite the entire family every single weekend. She holds down a full-time job, helps her children with their children, and hosts a big to-do nearly every weekend. They'd have to haul me to Shady Acres if I were to attempt such a thing.

We all have a room like that,
at least everyone I know does.
Unfortunately, mine is the hall
closet that my son opens wide
every time we have company for
all to see. Never fails.

I think we all are allowed just 'one' room to not worry about, to stuff things into when the need arises. I have my room...not telling you which one, but let me warn you not to open the closed door in my house. ;-)

Too funny..now post that beautiful ring. Well I am cleaning closets so this is right in order with what I am doing.
And checking out your office...well I have to laugh also...I had a friend, who I didn't know read my blog, come into the house and walk straight to my kitchen pantry, which I had posted of reorganizing weeks before...lucky for me it was still in some kind of order...we both started laughing out loud.

Now if my house had to be totally in order in order to have people over or a party...well there would never be a party....besides who really cares? The memories are in the fellowship, not the number of dust bunnies I have missed.

Well better go...no one can walk through the kitchen!

It's OK. We all need a messy office in our lives. It let's us know we're flawed. We're human. No one is perfect. My office is organized, but not all the time, either.

Bonjour Lea,
Great story, hmmmm, it reminds me that I need to tackle my own little office. Deb is right, we need a place to stash everything!
Thank you for coming by, I am hoping to to get back on schedule with visits, I have been a very unorganised blogger lately - perhpas that is deirectly related to the much needed office clean-up!

Lea, you saw my Studio on the best day it ever had. Today you can't walk through it and someone is coming to look at our house! They will have to view the studio from the door I think.

I think it was Anne Lamott who said that "tidyness suggest that something is as good as it's going to get". Here's to the hope offered by room for improvement!

Only one thought came to my mind when I read your post..."get a new friend!"... LOL.

How's THAT for honesty?

myletterstoemily said...

oh no! she's a wonderful friend, just
teasing me! :)

Lea, please tell your friend that I do not think you a fake and a fraud. I, for one, do not care to read about your trashed office...I have one I can visit and it's far, far closer than yours -smile. We're supposed to host Dave's company Christmas party here in December and there will be approximately fifty people, including babes in arms, toddlers and children. When they want a house tour, I always tell them, "if you want to see de-cluttered, go back home"; they always laugh because it's a battle a lot of us fight.

Oh what a cute blog. I stumbled over here from Rebecca's...mind if I read along and chime in now and then? I had our small group rolling on the floor the other night when I told them one of my greatest fears in life was that we would be hosting when we got a tornado warning here in NE Oh, sending everyone to the basement. Then they would KNOW I was a fake and a fraud!
