mother teresa

one of my favorite mother teresa quotes leads right into my life
verse, which is my sweet friend annie's most beloved scripture,
too.  she has a humble servant's heart like mother teresa.

"we can do no great things only small things with great love."
-mother teresa

"my heart is not proud, o Lord, my eyes are not haughty;

i do not concern myself with great matters or things too
wonderful for me.

but i have stilled and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child with its mother,
like a weaned child is my soul within me.

o israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore."
-psalm 131

what's your favorite scripture?

love,
lea

Jeremiah 29:11-14
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord, "and will bring you back from captivity."

The verse God gave me so long ago is~

Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven"

Love these quotes and her life was such a living example of God's love.

Among my favorites are "Be still and know that I am God"... and

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding"...

and so many more!

It's going to be wonderful to read everyone's favorite scripture. I have many, but one of my favorites is I John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished upon us, that we should be called children of God.

At the moment, it's "Live a life worthy of the calling you have received ..." When we go to Peru, we spend some time at Hogar de la Paz, a mission Mother Teresa established for disabled women. It is an incredibly simple, rustic place yet God's love through the sisters' selfless care makes it amazingly beautiful.

Hey Lea ... so many to choose from. I think mine comes from Proverbs: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lead not to thy own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy paths.

Every inspirational verse in the Bible is my favourite. I choose this verse to present as my answer to your question since my life as a single mother really had so many challenges enough to make faint and lose heart and this verse provided me lots of strength inasmuch as many verses do:

Heb 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."[a] 6So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"[b]

Even so, the Lord knows about my own concern for the others. And I will remain to be so.

Amen. I needed that this morning. I have lots of favourites. One of them is, 'I can do all things with Christ who strengthens me.'

I read your verse recently and sighed a deep sigh of satisfaction.

My all time favourite among many in from Matthew 6. "See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ..."

oh Lea, I have many favorites but this is the one I cling to many times a day...
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let
your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6,7
Our Father is so very loving...

Hi Lea, what a wonderful quote from Mother Teresa and one I love as well. One of my favorite Bible chapters, for I don't have a favorite as they are all precious and applicable depending upon circumstances, is Psalm 116. I taught in Russia in 2004 and took Bibles with me; one I gave to an English teacher and told her that chapter was my favorite. A few months later, she e-mailed me to say that chapter had brought much comfort as she and her students watched the horror as mad men shot school children.
One plants, one waters and God reaps the harvest.

BTW, on my JOY post...click on the word JOY and see where it leads, then, please, let me know what you think.

God bless.♠

I thought all day about what was a my " favorite verse," That is a little like saying " Who is your favorite kid." :) I will say that today my favorites are, " If you being evil know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your Father in heaven give you, and Pray without ceasing, rejoice always, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
They are what are getting through my current trial.
Thanks Lea

she is such an inspiration. i love psalm 103. love. love. love.

For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.
For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.

Mother Teresa has always been a favorite of mine. A cousin who was able to see her before she died said she was SOOOO beautiful! It must have been her soul shining through. One didn't notice her wrinkles but her beauty! We should all grow old like her! Patsy from

Jeremiah 29:11-14 is one, but Single and Sane shared it.

Isaiah 53:5 is another. I have a nail with it engraved on it:

But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

And, of course, Philipians 4:6:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Thank you for the very sweet comparison. Not deserved but grateful for your kindness.
