painted lady

dear emily,

my precious daughter in law and i were watching crazy utube make-up
tutorials last night.    don't do it!   they are completely addicting, kind of
like bill gothard chalk talks but without the spiritual lesson.

anyway, the next morning i thought i would try to follow the make up guy's
tips.    i was hoping for jennifer aniston, believing for judy dench, but landed
on bozo the clown.   my face was a lovely orange shade of pretend, my eyes
were as dark as the zombies my friend brenda likes, and my mouth was 'nude'
as death.

the moral of the story:  color glows best from hearty souls not painted faces.

love,
lea

ps.   "and Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his
finger . . . if any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw
a stone."  john 8:6,7

Hilarious, Lea!

I just watched make up videos with my two dawughters this morning. It's amazing how much stuff you can put on your face all at once.

They don't call them make-up artists for nothin'! All three of us agreed, including two teen girls, that we should err on the side of natural.

Happy face-painting!

Ah yes....that IS where the color comes from, WITHIN. And the source? Our heavenly heritage. Thank you Lea for visiting the little girl in the little blue coat; to this day, I still prefer blue and in many ways, still a little girl at heart. Anita

Oh how you make me laugh! So much fun. I had my day when I would have enjoyed watching such videos. Now I am much more interested in finding those chalk drawings.

Haha! Oh no! They are kind of addicting - I have fallen into the trap as well. I never come out looking very good either. ;)

You are SO funny. Thanks for a Saturday giggle. And I'm sure you're quite beautiful, inside and out ~ just as you are.

haha so funny, I know that my daughter and I have sat in the computer room watching videos like that and laughed ourselves silly. I tried it like you one day and decided that way why God likes that gentle and quiet spirit. Because I don't have time to be messing about on a lost cause. :)

Who besides you and me even remembers Bill Gothard??

So true, the best color comes from within, and yet... here I am with all of my tubes and jars faithfully applied every morning. I've been the clown a time or 2 myself, especially thinking of when I grabbed eye liner and lined my lips with it never realizing, and off i went to Target. My granddaughter said mimi, why are your lips black? I just laughed and went right on, and then later got home and looked in the mirror and saw... the clown! I'm sure I smiled at everyone I saw at Target, as they pitied me and chuckled to themselves. :(

So funny! It is tricky, learning how to make up our faces without looking made-up. Sometimes I think it looks like I don't have any makeup on at all, and I don't like that, either, especially when I know I've spent about 30 minutes with about 20 different products! I have never watched any makeup videos, though. Now I am curious :)

Grin, I have never been one for makeup much but have been afflicted with rosacea (probably in retribution for all those mean comments I made about my sisters' acne). Now I do something I would never have imagined ... I put in GREEN makeup to hide the red. But also fortunately the antibiotics from the doctor are having some effect.

So, so funny. We do try what we can though, don't we, to fancy up our faces a bit! I bet those tutorials can be addictive.

Hey Lea,
I had my youngest daughter try some make-up technique that I pinned from pinterest, and we both decided then and there that that will not be happening again. Oh my, she kind of looked like she was in one of those color races where you start off wearing white and they throw color on you. It wasn't good. Not one bit.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Lea, makes me glad I don't have band width! I haven't heard the name Bill Gothard in decades...since I went to one of his conferences.
