extensions

dear emily,

i have done many foolish things but right at the top of that list is getting
eyelash extensions.   just saying it makes me feel stupid . . . but they
looked SO beautiful.   instead of waking up to look like the palm of my
hand, i glided out of bed as princess kate.

unfortunately, those silly lashes had to be repaired every TWO weeks
which took about TWO hours.    as punishment for the sin of vanity,
my real-life puny lashes all fell out.

the princess turned into a frog.

it only took TWO months for my lashes to grow back, just long enough
to teach me a lesson.    if God had wanted me to have gorgeous, long
eyelashes, He could have made me be a cow. . . which is still better
than a frog.

love,
lea

Oh I am laughing after you had commented about being into lashes when I said I wanted my car to have them
Future daughter-in-law got eyelashes and soon-to-be bride plans to also...I will probably pass
I do remember my mother having false eyelashes back in the day...we played with them

so fun you tried...I give you a high five for trying!!!

Hysterical, you are!! You always make me laugh. I used to have super long thick lashes. I don't know why it is as we age that our hair, lashes, and brows all get thinner. Anyway, I love Loreal Voluminous Mascara in the shiny black tube. Two light coats and I look like I still have the lashes I had in the swingin' 60's!

Hahahahahahahaha...you are too funny. It sounds painful all the way around.

LOL! I did the same thing and promptly came home and took them out! It felt like spiders were on my eyelids. Well, live and learn. :)
PS you know who have the BEST lashes ever? Boys! They always get what they don't need.:)

Oh my goodness! You must have been devastated! My daughter's friend had them done and they did look awesome. I don't think I would have the patience to go every two weeks though. But hurray for you for giving it a shot and then a word of caution for us. I am still laughing at your cow joke!

XO,
Jane

I had to laugh at this post....those longer lashes appealed to me too, especially as I have gotten older. Everyone's faces just seems a bit brighter with them glued on. I have enough trouble just coloring my hair so I knew I wold never try them myself and your hysterical post has just confirmed that. (o:
Have a great weekend, enjoying the God given beauty we already have!

hahaha! Now I can admit I did it too! Mine own are just short, stubby and sparse. They were WONDERFUL! They recommended I do it every two weeks, but ever the rebel I stretched it to 3 or even 4. The problem for me was the expense. It was just downright stupid...sigh. But for about 6 months I had long, luxurious, think black lashes fit for a queen. For a couple of months after they were finally off I felt like I was "bald" or something when I looked into the mirror. lol

Vanity, oh vanity! Enjoy your week-end!

i should have a "true confessions: have you or haven't you?" post!

Oh that was so funny, Lea. I too have always had short, thin lashes. Frustrating! I have been using Mary Kay Lash & Brow Serium and have seen results. So have others. Let me know if interested in trying this. Also, the Ultimate MK Mascara is great.

Ouch, that was a tough lesson all the way around. Have you ever tired Latisse for fuller lashes? It works for me!

I'm cracking up at you! A good friend had a total face lift and for 6 months her mouth had a 'list' and her eye twitched! I must say though, when it all cleared up, she looks terrific! I'd be the one who got a twitch that never went away. :) This was too cute!

LOL... great post my friend!! and so true. We need to learn to be happy with what we have been blessed with. Sometimes difficult to remember ~ especially when my naturally curly hair - gets frizzy and oh how I wish the hair was a little straighter (naturally). I'll tell you though when it was gone from the back of my head - after the accident - how I cry to have curly hair again.

As always a wonderful gentle reminder message .. thank you my friend. xo HHL

When I saw the post title Extensions I thought of building extensions on the house ... now that is a nightmare, even worse than eyelashes.

I've never done eyelashes but I had a cataract operation on one eye before Christmas and I've gotta say getting a new eye that works like a young one is just plain terrific ... I've thrown out all the standby cheap 2 x glasses ... I can read with out glasses!!

Now when I look at my thin, fine, short lashes, I'll think of you and resist the temptation. :)

I'll guess I'll stick with Maybelline. :)

Note to self: DO NOT TRY THIS!

Oh no!!!

And here I was debating whether or not to give my sister a gift certificate for falsies for her birthday! Mind if I learn from your experience? :)

I did not know you can do this. Wow, now I know I will never try it. You poor thing, I bet though for a while it was really cool though.
My MIL had her eyeliner tattooed on and her lips done. Her lips got covered in fever blisters and her eyelids swelled so much her that she couldn't open her eyes. I knew then I was just going to be the plain Jane I am and stick to that quiet and gentle spirit thing. :)I am so glad your eyelashes grew back.

Oh no! What an awful experience to go through. I wasn't meant to have long lashes either...though my 20 month grandson has the most beautiful lashes ever. Have a wonderful week! :)

How many times will I have to learn this lesson? That is even more embarrassing than admitting to eye lash extensions. LOVE this gentle, humorous reminder.

I'm sure it didn't seem quite as amusing at the time, but you do have a gift for seeing humor in so many of your adventures. Glad I stopped by.
