dear emily,
i like beautiful clothes. there, i said it. why have i tried to deny it or have
i been ashamed of it?
because self-indulgence is repugnant and sinful. there, i said that. so, how
do we celebrate something we enjoy without crossing the railroad tracks
into muddy places? we each have to lay that before the Lord and let Him
lead us. He gave me a simple plan. i'd love to hear what yours is.
as a 54 year old woman, i have had a difficult time finding attractive clothes
that are flattering to my not so perfect figure, but j.jill has some mix and
match pieces that are favorable and not excessively expensive. when i
first saw them on the hanger, i was skeptical, but every time i wear them, i
get compliments.
love,
lea

I love j.jill too!
I also love the last four posts I have read here this afternoon. I so enjoy the way you write. I learn so much about your heart.
hugs...
I totally love J.Jill too. I always have and it is true, I have found anything I buy from them just looks good.
But of course, I wear sweatpants all of the time too. :)
I knew I was safe on all 3 counts, so I headed right over to read this!
I need a pair of UGG clogs from J.Jill right now!
I qualified, so I didn't hesitate to open and read (:
I owned a women's apparel store for several years, so I understand your love for quality, well- fitting clothes. I don't shop any more because 1) I have enough clothes for three people, and 2) I don't have any place to go (: 1 Tim 6:17 xo
J. Jill is a wonderful place to find good quality, well fitting clothes which are flattering and up to date for women over forty. At 52, I like to keep up with fashion but don't want to look like I am wearing my daughter's clothes! And I, too, love my sweatpants!!
XO,
Jane
Hi there...thanks for coming by and leaving a sweet comment on my blog. I've checked yours out and have added myself as your newest follower. Your blog is great...I love that you are a Godly woman and bring that into your blog. Also, I just recently heard about Teach America...that's a great thing! Happy Fall Ya'll~
I'm really sorry I didn't get to read the post--I would love to know what it said--smile!
Hi Lea - Thanks for your visit! I'm not familiar with J. Jill but will have to check it out. I hate shopping - so hard to fit my odd 50+ shape anymore LOL!
As for my slacker hen - I have no idea which one she is, so she's perfectly safe from the stew pot! I'm sure she'll pick back up when spring comes! Have a wonderful weekend!
ok, NONE of you qualify, because you're
gorgeous!
Teeee Heeee....
Since I work at home I wear PJ Bottoms all day with a TShirt. I keep tabs on my guy and 30 minutes before he comes home I put on a bit of make-up (so I don't look dead) and do my hair and change my clothes. He RARELY surprises me with an unannounced early homecoming and he's only caught me once. I said I was having a bad day and I was.
Funny thing is...he could care less. I care.
Love, Rebecca
I've gone by that store a dozen times at least without stopping in, but next time... I'm going to check it out--just on your recommendation!
Well, would you look at that... a post just for me! :)
At home I can always be found in yoga capris and a t-shirt, unless I am cold and then it's flannel pajamas for me --- indoors, of course! ;-)
I love J.Jill! I've loved their style for years, even before I reached...ahem... 45. I'll admit I've never purchased directly from them, but I am always on the lookout for that brand when I visit the thrift stores.
Have a happy day, Lea!
Oh I am laughing...and when you read my blog you will see why..we both must be on the same thoughts
These are great...I need to check it out...and learn, I so need to let go of Mommy look...the one that was outdated years ago!
I have been a j.jill clothes lover for years and the store is less than ten minutes from my house so that's super. I can honestly say I have never purchased anything from them that didn't look and feel great. Their pure jill line is so comfy I don't even wear sweats anymore. Now if my very favorite...Redford's Sundance, just had more reasonable prices I'd be happy.
As far as enjoying clothes, I do too and I think the Lord is fine with His people looking their best.
Hugs!
J. Jill looks as if she caters to the tall and slender...you long drinks of water. I have yet to find a company that caters to the short and stout. =)
Though I care almost nothing for clothes, I think I should care more. I am certain that the Lord would like me to look my best. Didn't that Proverbs woman look pretty good?
Well, I can't even pretend to be under 40 anymore, so I think I'm safe.. have never heard of J.Jill..must hop over and check it out.
I guess since I just turned 40 I can read... =)
I have never heard of j.jill, but I definitely want to check them out. With all of the weightloss and journey to better health this year, I am wearing work-out clothes most all of the time, but also starting to appreciate dressing up and feeling acceptable when I go out. Thanks for the suggestion to check out!
I definitely fit the 40+ requirement for reading your post. I'm 68 and love my stylish clothes. I think you are smart to go the mix n match route. It means adding so many different outfit choices to your wardrobe. Great plan for getting out of the sweats yet still be comfortable. And, I think God made women to appreciate the finer things in life and the ability and desire to enhance the beauty He gave us. So, no more guilt my beautiful godly friend.
gosh, Lea, those are beautiful clothes. I don't need clothes, have lost 25 pounds since Dave died but used to buy almost exclusively from Orvis. A lot of my clothes are farm work clothes and I wear dresses, skirts/blouses for everything else. It does seem there aren't that many nice clothes for women +50. I refuse to look like a cheap tart, or an expensive one for that matter.
What I love about your blog is its womenly topics ... another great post and a challenge to go find at least a couple of nice dresses.
Dear Friend,
I am under 40, BUT...I have the hardest time shopping. It is really my least favorite thing to do. Even though I do, do some walking, I am so far from skinny. ;-)
Have a great weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving if I don't get back over here by then.
I'm 54, too. Safe there. Cute, but not gorgeous, safe again. But...most people tell me I'm thin. I read it anyway! :)
Someone once told me that they thought I would look good in J. Jill clothes; that it also fit my personality. We have one in the area, but not as close as the mall that's 3 miles away. Also, I tend to shop fast in the big mall anchor stores because shopping is not my favorite way to spend time.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I hope you'll have success there. Please give us an update and model for us. :)
I will think of you when I pass the store again and will even step into it. I might get lucky.
oh, Happy Thanksgiving!
i love j. jill.....but darn them. a few years ago they changed their sizing and i can't help it that i'm little and now very few of their things fit me :(
I read it anyway, not that I fit into the thin or gorgeous part, but had to laugh. At just a titch under six feet, I have an impossible time finding clothes to fit. Total bummer to know it is going to get even more difficult as I get older. J.Jill, here I come!!!
Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am sad it is over, as much as I love Christmas, I enjoy Thanksgiving for it's simplicity and natural beauty.
