dear emily,

how do you keep your five kids' activities straight?   i have fleeting
nightmares memories of forgetting my five kids' piano lessons and
basketball practices.   when i went out of town, i color-coded the
calendar (blue: isaac, red: shelby, orange: max, green: sunday, purple:
hailey) for the baby sitterto take them where they needed to be.

now,  i really only have two people's activities to keep straight but
tend to record dates in my calendar on the wrong day, week, or month.
i had thanksgiving down for november 30th.

i sent sunday lane a message saying, "only two more days until you
come home!"   she replied, "mom, i don't come home for four more
days."  bummer.

oh well, i haven't noticed that the world stopped revolving from my
disorganized issues.    it seems that our five adult children are doing a
better job than their mom, and i always prayed that they would surpass
me in every way.

love,
lea

I am so glad that my kids surpassed me in every way. :) You know that saying it is a sign of a good teacher. You were just a good teacher. Still are. I hope you had a wonderful day.

Oh that's a good prayer...I don't recall praying it, though both mine certainly have. If all five of yours have, you've done splendid parenting. And you do sound very clever and terribly organized right down to the color coding. Suppose that you'd have to be with five wonderful and busy people to manage.

I only have three children, and I still have trouble keeping track of them! What's even funnier, is that now they have trouble keeping track of ME. Bwahahaha

I imagine you would have to have all kinds of systems to manage 5 kids and their activities! I can barely handle the one kid!

Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful!

Makes me realise how different my life has been with no kids to organise.

teeehee...how I remember being a TEACHER and keeping all those kids in step !!!

Dearest Lea, thank you for coming to visit me and YOU KNOW WHAT? Since I was a child, I too always had this thing in my heart for little old men. I used to cry when I saw them! And to this day, they make my heart melt. What is up with that? Well, compassion hits you in funny ways....the ways OF THE LORD are marvelous. Anita

I am laughing I also color coated our calendar, and although I just knew I would leave someone somewhere or miss something..both music and sports...with all five of them I never did. My father would look at he calendar on the ref. and laugh...now he laughs because I don't have one...just keeping up with two kids seems like a piece of cake.

Yes they survived and so did I...and they are now surviving my memory loss....LOL

Aw! Enjoy all your family time (whenever that time may be :o) I need any assistance (notes to self, lists to self, calendar notes, phone messages, etc) to help keep me organized!

Blessings & Aloha!
And thank you soooo much again for the giveaway of the wonderful car seat straps! They are perfect!

Hi Lea!
Thank you ~ always ~ for your lovely visits. This letter's message is oh so true here in my home as well.
I know where things are, even in some of the messiness that's here and there {mostly little piles of mail and magazines} ...
"I know it's in --the pile-- on the coffee table!" You'll often hear!
I'm getting to my little piles one at a time... trying not to add one more as the week's mail comes in!
My daughters are sooo much better at throwing things away. I am grateful for digital magazines. It's making it easier to throw away the paper copies.
Well, as you can see... I'm really relating to this one :o)
Blessings to you always,
Have a cheery week!

I know the feeling--except I don't even bother to keep a calendar because I forget to look at it--I have gone from bad to worse! Pitiful, I know--

Blessings--

I don't know how anyone could keep the activities of 5 kids straight but I'm sure you did a much better job than you remember!

And as for forgetting things now, um, you're not alone. ;-)

It must be a momma thing .... I forget to pick mine up from practice at least once a week. Dear hubby handles that on most days, but when he is gone for work I think he must take my mind with him.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Oh, sweet lea! I laughed out loud. My five are color-coded, too...and I still miss things all the time. They are so quick to forgive! I just don't want to miss the really important things that aren't on the calendar...thanks for your sweet reminders not to. Love love love.
