cynicism

dear emily,

many people in our great land are disappointed this morning.   they worry
about the rights of the most vulnerable, unborn children.    they have been
called misers, when secretly they give tremendous amounts of their income
to help the poor and needy . . .  before they give a huge chunk to the
government.

many more citizens are ecstatic.   they have a champion for gay marriage,
reproductive rights, and government assistance to the poor and needy.    they
see hope for the underdog and justice for the down trodden.   i understand
their joy.

the community i worry about are the cynics, the ones who believe that we
are all motivated by self interest.    they don't trust our sincerity or our
integrity.   they are suspicious, pessimistic, and fatalistic.    they poke fun at
our hurt and deride our happiness.  "first of all, you must understand that in
the last days scoffers will come . . ."   2 peter 3:3

i would rather have hope.

love,
lea

"hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our
hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us."  romans 5:5

Good Post Lea, I have today to deal with my children who have become skeptics. I will have to speak to them out of God's Word, but it will be so hard. I am with you. I must show them hope today.

Oh I just couldn't agree more...AMEN! to it all! : )

I agree. I'm reminding myself that God is ultimately the one calling the shots no matter the outcome of the election while I deal with the confusion over our choice as a nation. I thought maybe people didn't understand what another four years would mean but an even scarier thought is maybe they did.

Thoughtful post, Lea. I have to agree with Cindy as well. I also, wonder what God is doing and yet know that our only hope is to be found in Him and Him alone, and that I must be found faithful to what He has called me to be. Thanks for your insight today.

I am shouting REVIVAL..and let it begin in the church!!! I believe it is a battle cry..and we don't fight with flesh and blood but with the principalities of darkness. Eph. 6:12 If the hearts change then what is on the books won't matter...a mother's heart changes and she will not chose abortion...

I worry about all of us and believe if we'd spend more time in prayer, we'd be better able to handle life's trials, tribulations and tests.

Indeed, hope does not disappoint. We make a mistake on both sides when we fail to remember that the only One in whom we can place that hope is Jesus Christ. No wonder the cynics can't see Him.

Now I'm off to catch up on more of your posts!

Love,
Margaret
