jack, the guard dog

dear emily,

i am in colorado with my dog jack, getting the house ready for hans and
the  kids.    my only rule is that jack is not allowed in the master bedroom.
(i should say hans' rule that i am trying to support.)  even so, jack sneaks in
everyday with his ears tucked against his head only to be shooed out again.
his perseverence is remarkable.

yesterday our property manager came to the house while i was running
errands, and he said that our guard dog was remarkable.

"guard dog?"

apparently jack growled and nipped at the poor man's heels, following
him throughout the house, and then ran in front of him to guard my
bedroom door.   he wouldn't let him in.  it seems that if jack isn't allowed
in, nobody else is either.

remarkable.

love,
lea

"the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and
forevermore."  psalm 121:8

ps.   everyone in colorado is desperate and thankful for your prayers
for rain.

Too funny...those little dogs are the best guard dogs, at least our little one is...or we say she is really nosy!

Colorado is on my heart daily and my prayers
Yes Lord..bring the rain, both the physical and the spiritual

Colorado is one of my favorite places to visit, so have been very prayerfully concerned for the people, their homes and the beautiful God-designed landscape. This picture reminds of a scene in Wagon Wheel Gap near Creede. Love that area.

Jack sounds like a wonderfully protective dog. Colorado has my prayers. My brother-in-law has family in Boulder and we have dear friends in Black Hawk. And we have you! Stay safe...

What a good dog!

Still praying for rain (without lightning please, Lord), calm winds, strength for the firefighters, and protection for all.

I love those Colorado mountains and the wildflowers ... just perfect. As for the rain, be assured it will come back one day. Right now I am camped beside the river of a town that was in drought for years and is currently recovering from major floods :-)

Hi, I would certainly be afraid of Jack! Dogs scare me, whether they are big or little, unless they really know me. They are very territorial, and are faithful to protect what they "own". Sweet story! Regards to you. Hope your stay is wonderful! Ruby

Praying for Colorado!!

Our personal bedroom is the only place I won't allow Rocky. Mainly due to us both having allergy problems...:/ Dogs are amazing how smart they can be!! :) Faithful companions for sure!!

Happy Weekend to you!

Well done, Jack! Have you moved house, Lea?

Thank you so much for the kind comment you left about my book Sunday's Child. I hate to ask, but if you have time could you please leave a review of it on Amazon for me?
This increases word-of-mouth and also sales. I need this push to get it out in the open so it could take flight.

Thank you so much for all your support, Lea.

We've been praying for your state and continue to do so. Breaks my heart to think of all of you.

Great guard dog there. My daughter has a Mastiff and all he has to do is stand up. He's a gentle soul but even the UPS guy won't get out of his truck!

I think your guard dog is better than mine. Mine barks and carrys on, but can be patted into mush and playfulness. If we ever do need her as a guard dog, I hope the intruder will hear the first bark and turn around. :)

Good to include the dog stories in your journal. :)

I hope and pray things are better in Colorado this week. I haven't heard anything on the news in the past few days.

What an inspiring blog!

How are the fires at this point? We have been having them up here in the Boise National Forest as well.

Smiles,

Praying for the water and the Spirit to rain on Colorado. Can't wait to come and see you and Jack. I've been singing the old song "playmate come out and play with me, climb up the apple tree, slide down the cellar door and we'll be jolly friends for evermore". :) Annie

Oh dear, fires do seem to go hand in hand with droughts. May the rains return soon.

A toast for Jack! :) Homeowners should have security guards, security systems, or simply guard dogs to watch over them. Thank you for your inspiring post.
