bad hair day?
my husband and i went to an outdoor party a few evenings ago. i sort of
hated it and sort of liked it. the hate part was the hot part. how in the
world was i supposed to fix my hair to endure a warm and muggy wind?
this led to the like part: i didn't. i just let it be curly and didn't try to
tame it, but i saw dozens of women wrestling with their beautifully coiffed
locks. it was painful to see the grimaces of despair as long manes whipped
across pretty faces, dragging red lipstick in their wake. the poor ladies
didn't have a chance.
if it had been a basketball game this was the score:
hair 76
ladies 0
i think of my hair like my husband. i have influence, but it has a mind of
its own.
love,

Well when I am back there I think it is just better to be bald. I would stay with my parents and I was always afraid by the time I got home moss would be growing on my neck. My hair never dried.
Really at this age, I am thinking I need to look more like Granny from the Beverly Hillbilly's. She looked great in a bun. :)
I am sure your hair looked wonderful.
Mine has a mind of it's own too... straight! And it isn't a mane that whips around in the wind, it is a straight mess in this warm windy weather... there are no curls that would allow me to go to that party... not without hair spray diligently covering the whole thing, and then at least when the wind blows my hair all over the place, the style sort of stays. UGH... That's when I need a baseball cap and a pony tail... how would that have looked at your party??
Really? Is that what it says? Hmmm...I may have to embroider it. Short and curly is the way to go in a hot, humid summer. Wise gal!
haha...sounds like you were the smart one...Love that proverb! Enjoy your day!
LOL! It's pointless to try to have outdoor anything in the south. Pointless...unless you put a tent over the whole thing and a/c it. I blame all the magazines that tempt us with their beautifully styled outdoor parties somewhere in Maine or Wyoming. Shame on them.;)
In our windy city I have about given up...so up it goes on the back of my head in a clip...I know, not very stylish, but practical
Perfect!

lisa: you're so right! shame on them!!
I used to curl and perm...
I used to lay in the sun and tan...
Now I no longer fight who and what I am. My hair is as straight as a stick and I am a pale calla lilly white woman.
Oh, and I no longer skinny dip, to borrow the phrase, I chunky dunk!
Loved this post and I too, am thinking of embroidering the proverb... no maybe a tattoo.
I love this! I live in a humid, hot environment, plus windy, so hairdos are out for me. Simple is perfect. And the Proverb is so perfect for this!

P.S. Thanks for visiting me @ Being Woven tonight.
I tried to email you a response to your comment, but couldn't. Please email me your email address. I've missed you! PJ
A sense of humor definitely carries us, doesn't it? When it comes to hair, I've quite keeping "score". It's too depressing :)
You kept score well. lol
I too have the very same problem when invited to something outdoors.
Here lately I have been pulling it back in a ponytail and slapping a hat on my head. Not good but it helps not have to fuss with hair the whole time.
You mentioned you don't think you could do those collage believe me this site is so easy I think you will be able to if you want to make one.
Have a wonderful day.
Funny I was just thinking I should get a hair cut today.

I love the comparison to husbands, so true! Maybe I will remind myself & my husband of this when I am trying to tame my hair at functions where I am meant to look my best but my hair shows me who is really in control. Good thing I can ignore my hair and behave myself in spite of it.
You would think all of us ladies would finally show our good sense and make uncontrollable hair fashionable, but unfortunately, only the male rock stars have that notable quality. ( I told my grandkids that I have Steven Tyler's' ( American Idol) hairstyle, and they laughed, because it is true!

This is what I loved about going to LSU, I finally figured out to not even bother with my hair because the weather/humidity was always going to win----
It sounds like you had the best idea. Sometimes it is best to just let things go and not fret over it.
I love the verse.... it struck a chord in me today. Just what I needed to hear.
Ha! I love your saying about your hair and your husband--SO TRUE!!!
Lea, you're so right...women have such angst over their looks and their hair. If my hair is clean, it's a great day and if it's not, it's a hat day...win win -lol-.
Mascara and lipstick with a large slathering of moisturizer is my idea of makeup.
What a gift to have hair you can let go! Mine would just look like a wet mop in those circumstances. I know that because I've been told...
He he ... there is no such thing as a bad hair day for me, because every day is the same with my hair ... it is persistently awful, perhaps because I only bother to visit the hairdressers once or twice a year!
