boys, boys, boys!

in the past few weeks, i have mixed up three boys' names.
not my own sons, of course, but the ones circling around my
girls.  i can no longer even remember which boy is 'friends'
with which of my girls.

"mom!  that's bobby, not billy!  he's here to take hailey out
to dinner, not me!!   sick!!!"

the trouble is, they seem to think that i can keep track of
'friends' from two and three years ago.  that is simply not
possible for my small mind.

"mom!  that's billy, not bobby!  he used to like sunday, not
me!!  ew!!!

(billy?  bobby??)

so, from now on, when a new boy walks in the door, i will
give them a test like, "hey bud, would you please bring the
groceries in from my car?" (the ones YOU will be eating.)

if he does, i will try very hard to learn his name, but if he
can't pass my daughter's test, i won't try very hard to
remember it.  :)

love,
lea

Funny! You make me laugh out loud. Good test, by the way, with the groceries. :) Earn your keep, right? :)

And what is it with kids... they've forgotten how to use their anatomy. They think BACKS are what we sit on. :) [kidding of course]

Very funny! I hope my boys do not fall into someone's "Billy? Bobby?" category! We have tried very hard to teach them to look adults in the eye, offer their hands, and their names, and, of course, help carry the groceries! And, they better be!

That is so funny. I can relate to that totally. My girls are constantly bringing home friends making it difficult for me to recall names. I agree with you about the groceries test. I have found that teenage boys consume much more food than my teenage girls! Carla

I do love the grocery idea!!

I remember fixing so many spagetti dinners for so many girl 'friends' that I finally said 'no more spagetti till at least 3 dates or more!' :)

Too funny...from a mother of five boys and only one girl. Now I would like to see which girl will help with the meal or even pick up her own plate! That is the test from this mom of boys....feeding my crew is a lot of work...and if she is going to be a future daughter-in-law I would like to not have to serve her!
You would be surprised to see how many won't even offer.
I like the boy test also!

Now that is a great test! I wish that I had thought of it. I don't know about you, but my daughter dated three different guys with the same name. Talk about confusing!

Not at the same time.

Sounds like a plan! LOL!

You funny, funny girl!!! Oh yeah, I know just what you mean, as I have four daughters of my own. I can't even remember which guy they are married to half the time, because we don't see three of them often enough.
I loved your 'snakes on the plane' post. So funny!
Thank you for the sweet congrats you left me on my blog. I appreciate you taking them time to make me feel great about it all.
hugs

Ok...are you an OU fan? I included Sam Bradford, LOL...that billboard was just awesome of them both...displayed on IH35 the weekend of the Cotton Bowl...where Sam got knocked out the game! My husband and son were there. We didn't get to see them play each other their senior years.:(
Tebow....that young man's testimony is unreal....those three have a heart of gold and a wonderful testimony for all to see...but I think Bradford got the most money...LOL They are in my prayers
Thanks for stopping by

Too funny!!! I figure you don't need to learn their name until they eat dinner with the family, right?

Hi Lee...

I can relate to this one my friend! I'm smiling from ear to ear. Not only did our son-shine bring home every single stray boy he found but he brought the stray girls home, too. I once told the ever growing visitors one Saturday night to leave their shoes at the front door. Imagine my horror when one of the boys left wearing the wrong shoes! I then had to chase the shoe-stealer down in my car....he the kid was too afraid to return home without them!

Brandon is the reason I went gray! Adrienne is the reason I cover it up! :)

I was teasing you also!!!...love to be able to give an OU fan a hard time. Our son's roommate starts at OU in the fall, and our others son's best friend just graduated from there...enjoyed harassing each other
Have a great week

How adorable. I know what you mean. The other day my daughter Ashley brought home her new beau. As they headed down the basement stairs that lead to the garage, he turned and said "Would you like me to take this garbage out"? My daughters tend to walk right passed the garbage bags. I thought. hmmmm, this one might be a keeper.

I love the way you think..may have to borrow your method. I try so hard to remember names as well.
But I am the worst at names anyways...my poor students...by the end of the year I know all their names but it takes me all year..{well not really..but a few months} and there are still ones I confuse...

Hugs for a great new week. xoxo

Funny. I raised four daughters and a son so relate to what you are going through. Later you won't remember any names and have trouble with your son in laws, keeping their names correct. I have a Ricky, an Eric, Brian and Logan. Grandsons: Ezra, Ben, Preston and Chris. Lord help us all, remember! P.S. Boys do become men and turn out rather nicely.

What a giggle. I would muddle up the names of my own kits if I had them. I'm always muddling up the names of people at work.

That is too funny! I will have that problem I'm sure as my girls get older. Definitely I will be expecting some respect, lol!!

My daughter dated two fellows named Paul ... one after the other. It made life very easy, until she met Brian. *heh* Guess what I called him? Just guess...

Oh Lea...I ADORE YOU...I am still laughing! You see, when you are good at making pretty children, this is what happens. These two don't seem to know why their dates mom is taking their MUG shot...If I were them I would VERY careful how I conducted myself...as their photo is now in a "Confidencial File" and as this relationship grows...so will their file...LOL....Smile on Rosie

Oh and by the way, my dear husband's name is Bill...and when I what to get a smile out of him I call him "Billy Bob Joe"...lets hope the girls stick to single name fellas...for your sanity sake

Our eldest daughter married somebody whose first name was the middle name of my dad (spelled exactly the same way, which had a unique spelling). Our middle daughter dated a "Mike"...then ended up eventually marrying a different "Mike"....:)
Now our youngest is with, "James"...he shares the same name as my brother-in-law! So, all those facts have helped us to remember some of the many names who have entered into our family! And, oh my, "some of those boys" could really pack down the food (in their tummies more than out of the car)!!!! yikes!!

LOL. I don't know why Moms supposed to know and remember everything. Thanks for sharing your test. I think I will use it when the time comes. Have a wonderful week.

Too funny! And you're a smart cookie if you stick to waiting to see if they bring the groceries in before you make an effort to remember their names!

Oh, my. NOT looking forward to this with my girls. We live WAY out in the country, so maybe they won't have a boyfriend till college ;-)

"Hey Bud" heheh...

and which category does this cute name fall into as far as your daughters are concerned? 'Sick' or 'ew' ?

And to answer your question...yes, that much!

I learned the hard way to NOT learn my son's girlfriend's names. The former girlfriend's name would inevitably slip off my tongue when I was talking to the new girlfriend. In all conversations apart from my son's and girlfriend's presence, I referred to the latest girl as "What's Her Name", and just avoided saying the girl's name when she was actually around.

Love it! Love it! Well said! And you are a wise Mama. Their responses to you should be full of respect and willingness to help. Otherwise, how will they treat your daughters?!

that picture is too funny!

That is great! I can wait for those days with my girls! My husband thinks they won't go on dates until they are about 30, if they do, he'll be along for the ride! ha ha!
