one of my character flaws is my tendency to get my feelings
hurt too easily. now that my children are young adults with
strong characters and clever opinions, i have tried to laugh at
myself more than wear my feelings on my sleeve.
in fact, i laugh so often with them, that i now consider them a
tonic or a good stiff drink . . .
they don't let me drive them places, because frequently i get the
giggles so bad that i am not a safe driver.
hans will call, and i will not be able to talk coherently.
"are you with the kids?"
giggles.
"are you inebriated on them again?"
snort.
"ARE YOU DRIVING?"
gasp.
he will then call one of the girls to make sure they are
driving.
embarrassing.

I am the same way with my two girls! We have the best times when we are together. They are some of my best friends!
Blessings!
Yup, I'm the same way with my kids and nieces and when they're all in the same place at the same time...watch out! They might turn that humor on me. %} This was so much fun to read!
I've always loved being with my kids and now that they are older and wiser {?}, I love it even more. We have great times together!
Funny post! :-)

Sweet Up-North Mornings...
I can add a ditto from Texas to this one!! My kids crack me up. I also have to laugh when they share their 'trials' with their own children!! The circle of life... and now it's their turn. :)
Dearest Lea!
How lovely to see that you visited me today, and to come and find this delightful story!!!Even though I do not have children of my own, I am a teacher and being one has taught me that laughter is the better, if not THE BEST to react to stress and the daily childhood foibles. Like the proverb suggest, a wise woman can laugh at the future....any circumstance any time, at herself and the outside forces! GOD HELP ME!!!!
SO you lived in MN? It really is a lovely place and I have gotten used to the cold winters. Come by anytime dearest Lea! Anita
I got the picture so vividly in my mind! I am laughing because you sound so much like me! :)
Lea, Thank you so much for the warm words you left for me, they really helped me.
Your children are very blessed (as you are too, for them) to have you as a mother - I wish my mother would have giggled more we were growing up (she does now at 73).
How wonderful!! Laughing until you are incoherent is always a good thing!
Laughter truly is the best medicine and how wonderful it is when it is your kids bringing a hearty laugh to your lips.
I know what you are talking about it frequently happens now to me. :)
Oh I love you! xoxoxo
Stopped by from "bits and pieces" and just love this post. I can say I am still working on some of that thick skin, but I do so love being with them.
I love the picture because my grandmother would have Dr Pepper fits and start laughing and laughing...she had learned what you expressed.
Enjoyed,
Janette
That is soo funny because it's sooo ~me~ too!!!
I love sitting in the kitchen with my children and they are all looking at me because I'm trying to tell them a story but I'm laughing soo hard I can't get the words out :-)
fellow giggler~ Cinnamon
hahaha this reminds me of my mom! of course she is also bad about if she sees a pretty house or some type of farm equipment or windmill she practically runs us off the road b/c she's too busy looking at the pretty and not at the road! :)
best wishes!!

It's a mom thing and it only gets worse or better as time goes on.
Case in point, my mother who will soon be 78...my siblings and I can make her laugh like nobody's business with very little effort.
It's part of the return on investment for motherhood.
LOL... I love this post! It made my day :>)
So sweet...
And thank you, Dear One, for going along with my having fun in my own blog!!!! With all my fandom of 'Band of Horses' and 'Twilight' things.
