shelby kate

twenty four years ago i gave birth to the prettiest little raven haired
angel.  for three days i played baby doll with her in the hospital,
dressing her in a different adorable smocked gown several times
a day.  i just couldn't believe she was mine.

since then she has amazed us with her sweet spirit and capacity to
accomplish everything from medicine to embroidery.  she has the
confidence to correct doctors  but the compassion to serve unwed
mothers.

i wrote about her strong will six months ago, but i didn't mention what
a lovely young lady she has become.

shelby has the most tender heart.  that heart has cared for countless
babies and helped many young mommies deliver their babies.  she even
took my 18 year old baby into her home for this school year.

those two have the sweetest of relationships, and it has been a wonder
to behold them both benefit from this special year together.

but, shelby's husband dan really deserves the medal of honor.   as they
were leaving the first day to embark on the odyssey, shelby said, "dan,
have you seen my cell phone?"  only seconds before hailey said, "dan,
do you know where my keys are?"  poor guy.

he is a prince, and he has wisely chosen a woman "worth far more than
rubies."  proverbs 31: 10

happy birthday, sweet girl.

it is dear that you are the first commenter,
because i was just thinking that you are
getting ready to have a baby girl after first
having a boy, just like me!

once again, you're my little lower case
sister. :)

i pray your sage will be as sweet and blessed
as my shelby.

Happy Birthday Shelby!

What a neat tribute from a mom who loves her daughter! I have a 'shelby kate' of my own... her name is Carole, and I recognize many similar traits in her. She is am amazing young woman, and she tested me royally along the way! Who knew... Shelby and Carole are 2
daughters who can bring their moms to tears of joy and thankfulness because of who they are!!

Birthday hugs!

let me add to what my friend, your mom, has written that you shelby are also a great cook--right dan???? yummy cake balls(way before anyone ever knew about them) and nutella knots--delish!!!!

and, we've had the priviledge of benefitting from your God-given abilities of compassion and confidence with docs of which we are forever grateful---go nurse shelby--patients(and their families) heal much quicker with great nurses like you.
happy, happy "day-late" birthday,

Happy happy birthday! What a sweet post...Our children surely do grow up soooo fast!

(oh dear! I tend to be like your daughter when it comes to utterances such as... "have you seen my...?" So, I have to line my hubby along beside hers for receiving any medals to be bestowed! haha
