sweet tayler

dear emily,

one of the highlights of my week is having lunch with tayler,
the first grader that i mentor.  her quiet voice just slays me when
she says, "oh, i forgot the thank you note i wroted you!"

she giggles at all my silly jokes and loves every story. it gratifies
my heart that she eats her entire lunch now, because she used to
be too frightened to take more than a few bites.  i think she can
tell that i am crazy about her.

when i mentioned that my husband was very funny and laughed
a lot, she said,  "i never seen my daddy laugh..."

i wanted to gather her up in my arms and take her home with me.
memories of hans' mantra to outlast the kids flooded my mind.

"one more story, daddy!" was met with two more stories.  one
more request to wrestle was happily supplied.  if they were
giggling, he was laughing.

how i wish tayler had a daddy like that.

love,
lea

So heartbreaking that Tayler doesn't have a daddy like that. What a blessing that she has you! Someone to love her and mentor her. And I love that you include a Bible verse at the end of your letters.

I have a daddy like that... so completely has helped me in my understanding of God and who he IS and how He loves me.

Lots of laughter... ah, yes, I'm sure there is lots of that with my Father.

You need 3-hanky warnings on these posts. Praying God will bring good men into Taylor's life. =)

Thanks for your comments. I'm trying to lighten up a bit. I love spending time with my gd's. They are 13 and 19 but still very sweet. I love the pictures from when they were little and the memories. Linda

How wonderful that you mentor this child. Wondering what sort of a program this is.... Knowing of "Big Brothers/Big Sisters" but this sounds more like an adult kind of mentoring a little one...

And I noticed your typing in lower case, but never mentioned it. :-) I've tried it, elsewhere on the Net and it can be fun. As well as a bit of rebellion. -giggles-

Hooray for you. Because I know that some people on the Net, can be very "purist" about lots of things. Tee,hee,hee...

Gentle hugs...

Oh dear! You were spammmed you said.

Spam is why I use Comment Verification. We all read our comments. I just happen to read mine on my Dashboard, before I Publish them. Then I know that no SPAM or weirdness, gets into my comments.

Oh, my heart is breaking! It is so painful to see those little innocent eyes being brave when there is something to hurt about! And, that's how I imagine her sweet eyes.
There she is in that, whatever it is, and she is writing you thank you cards! There are blessing in adversity! I am sure that she will remember your kindness forever!

Some people really don't like Comment Verification to be turned on. Since they want to see their comment show up, immediately.

I don't like Word Verification, myself. And using Comment Verification, I don't have to make my readers do the *dreaded* Word Verification.

It's all up to the individual.

And it's sad that Pretty Blog Land is disrupted by Spam and such. Sad. But sometimes it's so, and we have to choose our own way of protecting our blogs.

Gentle hugs...

Hi, Lea! So glad you came by for a visit so that I could find your lovely blog--thank-you!

I love the way you write--just read a few of your lovely letters...and I'll be back to read more.

So glad that Tayler has a sweet and loving influence in her life like you...you will change her life for good...she will never be the same because of you.

I'm grateful for a loving daddy who always made up stories for us...and a wonderful husband who loves his children. Can't take those things for granted!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend--thanks for touching my life today with your sweet stories.

you too, my dear, have a beautiful blog! i loved the one called "admitting is the first step." i'm imagining all the not-so-positive ways in which i would have to introduce myself. it's quite thought-provoking...
thank you for visiting simply feather. your comments made me blush! but again, i can see that you too, are an intelligent one.

i do wish little tayler had a daddy that laughed.

What a great thing you are doing in mentoring Taylor. Both of you are getting so much out of the relationship. I can imagine that the comment about her daddy broke your heart. I'll keep her in my prayers. Keep up the good work you are doing with her!

Perhaps her daddy didn't have a daddy like that. Sharing love & laughter w/ Tayler may not only help Tayler, but help her family and the family she may have one day!

Hello Lea,
You are still loved, despite your affection for Oklahoma University!
I have been very busy with SPRING FEVER and haven't blogged or visited anyone very much and was trying to get caught up with that so no one thinks they are chopped liver. As a testimony to our new found friendship I am adding you as a blog friend! My youngest kidlet is home from college and itching to go to Michaels to do an artsy craftsy project. After reading your post I feel the need to bond even more so than ever. Glad you have something so fulfilling to fill your heart and share your love!

Warmly,
Nancy
