dear emily,
how to count my blunders? in number or degree of
devastation?
my chronic disease contributes to most of them. i have
OCDD. . . obsessive compulsive disposal disorder.
i have thrown away important bank slips, CHECKS, bills,
receipts, letters, magazines. you name it, and i have
tossed it, to my family's constant dismay.
i have given away hans' favorite shirts, ties, suits, and
shoes. now to my defense, favorite to him, means the
cuffs are frayed and the shoes no longer have soles.
i have left car windows down during thunderstorms and
bumped the car into the garage door so many times that
isaac jumped in front shouting, "no mom, don't do it! let
dad park it when he gets home."
but the worst blunder of all, the one that still makes me
want to empty the contents of my stomach, is difficult to
tell. sunday had just finished her college application to
baylor. i was so impressed by the eloquence of every
essay as i edited, at her request.
what she didn't request or could have imagined is that i
accidentally, unintentionally, inexplicably pushed the
delete button!
and do you know what she said to me?
"well, i guess i will just go to 'xyz' university."
what a lovely example that "His mercies are new every
morning. . . " even when i don't deserve them.

love,
lea
ps. i'm going to 'spring' away from my computer for a
few days.

Obsessive, Compulsive, Disposal, Disorder. If you saw the load of "toys" we collected this afternoon for donation, you'd think I had it a well... or at least that I could use a heavy dose of it. My, I do live a cluttered life!

I have to admit, I think I suffer from the same thing!! For sure, my family thinks I do... my husband has nicknamed me 'toss and run'... he is always trying to find what I have thrown away!
Enjoy your few days off...
I always chuckle at your comments.

Enjoy your little soujourn:-)
Hi Lea,
My mom throws everything away. Must be why I hesitate to do so. :)
Thank you for the sweet words on my blog. Maybe I do have a song in me...
Enjoy your time away from the computer. :)
Your Sunday sounds amazing...what a sweet heart..that is something very much what I would do...I have accidently deleted many many things on my computer. Love the term..OCDD! Thanks for visiting me the other day. xoxo
oh my dear-how opposite we are! Actually, I have gotten much better! We are in that phase of letting it all go and how wonderful to be freed from the "stuff"-sweet hubby is leading the adventure (I keep telling him how loved I feel!) And yes, to just "be" is what the Lord is teaching me-I am finding myself in His word and you know, the best thing is I am finding Him and not myself---it is not about me-how great and freeing! Don't you just love our Jesus! Praying for you and your family! God bless :)
OMG what a disorder! lol
Could I borrow you for a few days around the ole farm house...I sure could use some throwing away around here.
Wow did you really hit the delete button...oh my..now the ole xyz school...hahaha very understanding daughter you there.
Loved reading this

Lea, someday your daughter will tell that story and LAUGH as though it was the funniest thing in the entire world. Of course, it will be when she is over 40 and has a teenager of her own whose life she has 'ruined' by doing something equally as accidental.
I love the way you write.
OOOOHHHHH, so sorry about that one. I can imagine how sick you must be feeling about it. I can't tell you how many times I have done the same exact things. I think we all do. It must have something to do with having our head into too many places at one time.
I am hoping your daughter is able to recreate her application. I know I am constantly deleting things and I have to say, I usually nail it the second time around! Maybe God had a reason for all my deleting!

Hi Lea, Don't feel bad, I have abc, def, ghi, jkl, mno, pqr, stuv, wxyz. disorders. I think that got them all. Well anyway my family is all surviving and loving me anyway. Thats the main thing. Oh, i've had my disasters with the computer send buttom a few times. Now that was bad. Oh well, life is fun. I love your writing. Annie
Oh my! I have done such stupid things too but God always seems to redeem me somehow! Have a nice couple of days away Lea!! Enjoy!
Well, I've got OCD...never knew about OCDD before! Lol...
Hope you have a nice long rest in your step away...gonna have one of those myself soon...
So..did she not become a Baylor Bear???? Perhaps she became a Horned Frog instead?
Hilarious! And poor Sunday.
Have a nice break. You will be missed.
blessings,
ashley
Omigoodness gracious me ... you must be heartsick. I know how I would feel if that were me.
We all suffer from the same disorder. It's called humanity.
I'm a believer in OCDD myself! In fact, I'd nurture it more, if I could. :-)
Your daughter is wonnnnnnnnnderful!
Go find a Computer Geek and he'll find that so-called-Deleted thing. Nothing is ever really Deleted. Which is good and which is bad. But in your case, 'twould be good. :-)
Really, if you don't know a Computer Geek, do you have a "Geek Squad" to call on? Perhaps it would be worth the cost, if they could find it...
♣♣♣Happy St. Patrick's Day♣♣♣
I love that your daughter extends grace to you, what a loving example of the Father (and she had humor in it too). Have a great day!
Oh dear,
then if this can be of any consolation to you I have the same disorder... tend to throw away everything that I considered useless, in the wrong place, or simply not as important as it probably is...
my teenage DD hates me for this and whenever she's unable to find what she's looking for she asks: "mom, you didn't do it again, did you?????".
there have been times when I even had to go search in the garbage can LOL... guess I'm hopeless!
love
rita
Confession is good for the soul, right? I, too, have thrown money away as in a paycheck...right into the woodstove. Yikes!
So did Sunday go to Baylor or is she happily at XYZ University?
Enjoy your springing away from the computer. It's very good for us from time to time.
I do compulsively throw things out, practically wresting them from the hands of my pack rat beloved. But just as your family understands, he does as well (sometimes). Good to have such lovely people around us isn't it?
I only wish I had OCDD. Instead, I'm a bit of a hoarder, myself. I'm learning, though, and I know God'll get me through. :)
I accidentally & unknowingly tossed my engagement ring into the garbage bin. 4 hours of MOTH's demented yelling & panicked searching later, he stumbled across it. It was a sure fire way to instantly cure my OCDD!!
Millie ^_^
I may have that same disorder. I'm always throwing away things. In fact, I keep a steady look-out on my kids toys and clothes to see what next it going to 'have to go.'
Ouch! the delete button was a total accident.
spammed, again.
