weary and heavy laden

dear emily,

how many times have you felt overwhelmed as a mom?  this
mom would have to answer "innumerable times!"  just today,
a very competent young woman sent out a distress call  that
went something like this,

"sending up a flare...

so tired of holding to a standard when no one else seems to
care.

so tired of having to motivate everyone around me.

so tired of feeling lonely.

so tired of the kids bickering.

so tired of being spiritually dry and feeling the heavens are
closed to me."

her desperate cries were met by a chorus of loving offers of
help and encouragement, because she is well loved.   when
life tries to drown us, we sometimes forget how many are on
our side.

we need to remind ourselves, too, that He said, "come unto
Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you
rest."  matthew 11:28

love,
lea

How wonderful to have the freedom to send out a distress call like this one and have it be responded to by loving supporters like you!

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a your nice comment! Your blog is a wonderful place. Like you, my family is all grown, but I often try to encourage pass on some wisdom to my son and daughter-in-law with my one year old grandson.

Your list in the post before was excellent -- we did the same for our children and my son wants the same upbringing for his son.

You're so right that being a mom can be truly overwhelming at times.

Recently I'd responded to someone talking about the need for Godly discipline with our children by saying that I'm seeking to that but can not say - yep I've got it all together. I remember feeling surprised by this person's response because I'd expected to be either be ignored or chastised in some subtle way; instead he told me that he thinks every single parent struggles with this issue.

I think it's wonderful that when the woman you spoke about sent out her distress cry, that others responded with love and encouragement.

Hello there! Thank you for once again visiting my blog. You asked what the #39 means next to our blog names. I wish I knew! I've always wondered about that myself. My age maybe? ;-) I wish!
If you ever find out, please let me know!
Happy letter writing,
Blessings,
Diane

This one resonated with me ... I might not be an overstressed Mum but work has been getting me in a tizz for the past week. I went into the office today (I usually work from home except Tuesdays) and it was so lovely to have someone offer encouragement and support. Both your blog post and my experience today are a timely reminder to offer encouragement when I can.

It's nice that her friends were supportive of her. But it seems to me that she really needs someone to give her husband a kick in the pants. Seems he should be helping with some of that stuff, just by the nature of being her husband and father of their kids.

I get very tired of hearing women trying to do it all. It's a partnership, Gals. He gets to do his part too. And his part is not just, for him to go to work.
